Following Hurricane Harvey, APPD, along with Coastal Plains Community Center, recognized the need for services for our residents who have experienced trauma related to the hurricane. The Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) helps people (adults and children alike) recover and rebuild their lives following a disaster. This program includes case management, psychiatric services, medication education and management, and even a 24-hour crisis hotline. This program has a special emphasis on children and can teach children how to manage their emotions and behaviors while also teaching parents to manage their child’s behaviors and improve communication.
CCP is anonymous (no records or case files are kept) and counselors can come to your home or other setting, instead of families going into an office. CCP goals include reducing stress and providing emotional support, assisting survivors in reviewing their disaster recovery options, and connecting survivors with other resources who can help during the recovery process.
This is a great FREE resource that we encourage everyone to look into. Healthy residents = Healthy Aransas Pass.
