*** UPDATE ***
Due to an overwhelming response, we will use Nextdoor along side our other social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Nextdoor will not be replacing them, just working together with them.
*** END OF UPDATE ***
The partnership will Help Improve Neighborhood Safety and Communications with Aransas Pass.
Aransas Pass, Texas – The Aransas Pass PD announced again, today a partnership with Nextdoor (nextdoor.com), the world’s largest social network for neighborhoods, to improve citywide and neighbor-to-neighbor communications.
This integration with Nextdoor enables Aransas Pass PD to use Nextdoor to build stronger, safer communities with the help of City residents. The Aransas Pass PD and Nextdoor neighborhoods will be able to work together to increase safety and strengthen virtual neighborhood watch.
“I’ve been asked to speak to HOA’s and other community groups in AP about helping establish a neighborhood watch program. After meeting, however, most decide against it because it’s time-consuming, requires face-to-face meetings, and planning. It’s just too cumbersome for the busy AP resident! Well, not anymore! Now every resident can join their own neighborhood watch program with Nextdoor.com.”
– Chief Eric Blanchard
Nextdoor is a well-adopted tool for City residents. Currently, more than 434 Aransas Pass residents are connected on Nextdoor.
With Nextdoor, City residents can create private neighborhood websites to share information, including neighborhood public safety issues, community events, and activities, recommendations for local businesses and service providers, and for sale and free items. The Aransas Pass PD will be able to post information, such as important news, services, programs, free events, and emergency notifications to Nextdoor neighborhoods within the City. However, we can only see what our neighbors directly allow us to see.
Nextdoor is free for residents and the Aransas Pass PD. Each City neighborhood has its own private Nextdoor neighborhood website, accessible only to residents of that neighborhood. Neighborhoods establish and self-manage their own Nextdoor website and the Aransas Pass PD will not be able to access residents’ websites, contact information, or content. All members must verify that they live within the neighborhood before joining Nextdoor. Information shared on Nextdoor is password protected and cannot be accessed by Google or other search engines.
The Aransas Pass PD joined thousands of public agencies across the country who are using Nextdoor for Public Agencies to build stronger relationships with their residents.
Those interested in joining their neighborhood’s Nextdoor website can visit nextdoor.com and enter their address. Agencies interested in connecting with residents on Nextdoor can visit nextdoor.com/agency. You might also want to first view the Aransas Pass PD Agency Page.
