  1. LOOK AROUND THIS CITY. THERE ARE SO MANY AREAS THAT NEED TO BE MOWED. SOME ARE EMPTY LOTS. OLD BUSIN4ESS THAT WERE’T IN BUSINESS BEFORE HARVEY.DOWNTOWN LOOOKS HORRIBLE. IT SEEMS LIKE THE CITY PICKS AND CHOOSES ON WHO WILL BE NOTIFIED WITH A WARNING IF GRASS I TOO HIGH OR IF THE ALLEY WAY BEHINDTHEIR HOME NEEDS TENDING TO. IF THE EXVCUSE IS THAT THE OWNERS OF THESE OVERGROWN PROPERTIES DON’T IVE HERE OR WHATEVER, SHOULDN’T THE CIY TAKE CARE OF TYHE CITY? THE CITY HAS MOWING EQUIPMENT. THIS WE KNOW FOR A FACT.DRIVE UP AND DOWNT COMMERCIAL STREET. HE CTY IS WNTING DONATIONSFOR PALM TREES TO MAKE AP BEAUTIFUL AGAIN. LET’S TAKE CARE F THE INFRASTRUCUTURE FIRST.ALL THE SINK HOLES, POT HOLES, THE BLOWN DOWN SIGNS THATHAVEN’T BEEN PUT BACK IN PLACE OR REPLACED PERIOD. WHAT’S MORE IMPORTANT? A PALM TREE OR IGNORING HOLES IN THE ROAD AND CLEANING UP KEPT PROPERTIS? ASK ALL OF US TAX PAYERS AND I’M PRETTY SURE TH ANSWER WON’T BE THE PALM TREES. NOT UNTIL THE MORE IMPORTAT ISSUES ARE AKEN CAE OF INSTEAD. FOR THE FOLKS THAT O NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A COMPUTER OR DO NOT UNDER TECHNOLOGY TODAY, I HAVE’T FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU.     Though I am not specifically familiar with your comment about the palm trees, I am about other areas of funding throughout the city. What some folks sometimes aren’t aware of is that many of the funding sources that become available to the city are restricted to certain activities or programs for which they can be spent on.

    For example, we received several millions in funding for the harbor to repair the roads out there. Some folks complained that the money would be better well spent on the roads in town, in neighborhoods. Unfortunately, the funds offered were for the harbor so we had to either accept it on those terms or reject it altogether.

    I assure you, the city staff in place today is working diligently to see to it that we recoup the biggest bang for the buck when it comes to our community. As far as the prolonged issues you speak about, our public works department is committed to correcting those issues as well, as the funding and resources become available.
