Thieves Will Try, Secure Your Stuff!

During the night last night, thieves were running around the area of Deberry and 11th on down to Avenue A. The thieves forced their way into victims’ yards by hopping over a fences, walking through open gates, or cutting through gate locks. Once in the yard, the thieves would check sheds and the residence for open doors, windows, or garages. If the structure was found to be unsecured, the thieves would steal as much as they were able to make off with. If the structure was found to be secure, the thieves would move along to the next victim.

It is important to secure your vehicles and your residences. Do not leave garage doors open, remove valuables from public sight, and use alarm systems or surveillance systems if available. These crimes can be some of the most difficult crimes to resolve, yet leave people feeling deeply violated when victimized.

As of now, police have taken 7 theft or burglary reports. Further, police have recovered evidence, and a detective has been assigned to the case. Unfortunately, resolving these crimes will not occur as quickly as the acts of those committing them.
